What the clinic nurses told us
Sample story. These are illustrative sample stories written to demonstrate this page. They are not real accounts and will be replaced with consented stories from our community.
Before expanding our training work, we spent three months asking clinic staff, teachers and community health workers a single question: when someone tells you what is happening at home, what do you wish you had?
The answers were strikingly consistent. Not more leaflets. Time, a private room, and one number they trusted enough to call in front of the person sitting with them.
What we changed
We rebuilt our frontline training around disclosure — what to say in the first sixty seconds, how to avoid questions that sound like doubt, and how to hand over without the person having to repeat their story from the beginning.
“I do not need to be a counsellor. I need to know I will not make it worse.”
If any of this is familiar, you can talk to us. Nothing has to be decided first.
