Violence Prevention and Awareness
Education, campaigns and community work to prevent violence before it happens.
Learn MoreWhat we do
Preventing violence requires more than responding after it occurs. This area works with communities to raise awareness of gender-based and domestic violence, to teach what healthy and respectful relationships look like, and to challenge the social norms that allow violence and discrimination to continue.
Support begins with being heard. This area provides trauma-informed psychosocial support through individual counselling and facilitated groups, in safe and confidential spaces, at a pace set by the person being supported — with referrals to specialized services where they are needed.
Mother to Mother does not need to provide every service directly. This area builds the protection pathways and referral systems that connect women and children at risk to the right services, working alongside relevant authorities and providers so that survivors do not have to navigate complex systems alone.
Economic dependence is one of the strongest barriers to leaving an unsafe situation. This area builds vocational, digital and financial capability, supports income-generating opportunities, and strengthens women’s leadership and decision-making.
This area strengthens the practical capabilities that hold families together and keep people safer: communication, parenting, health and wellbeing, conflict resolution, relationship skills, awareness of legal rights, and personal development.
Lasting change is built through partnership. This area develops the relationships that sustain the work — with community and faith leaders, government institutions, health and protection services, civil society, international partners, and technical experts.
